Last week we learned that our core is three-dimensional; it spans from your back body around your sides into your front body and it has a top and a bottom. Our front and back bodies get a lot of attention throughout the day and during Pilates. This week’s themes have the side body center stage as we seek to answer the question: how does our lateral self help us connect?

What does it take to side-bend the spine? Is it a stretch or is it a squeeze? Can our arms help? Can our hips help? Our favorite answer in Pilates: it depends! In today’s class we explore what we feel in our side body depending on its relationship to gravity.
