Did you know that Pilates has levels? Beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Our classes don’t put a huge emphasis on levels, in fact, most of our classes are a beginner to intermediate hybrid. This is where you learn concentration and awareness, the macro vs micro focus needed to “read” your body to make adjustments in real time. We teach with weekly themes to build on the above principles, help you learn the mat order, and get you super strong. This allows our students have a deeper understanding of their body’s strengths and challenges so that they are able to transfer their Pilates knowledge to new contexts outside of class.

To advance your practice doesn’t mean that Pilates exercises have to progress in difficulty. An increase in pace (flow) and a decrease in rest time (stamina) are two ways to advance and challenge your practice. This week’s themes are all about picking up the pace and staying in the exercises for longer using transitions. Let’s take a glimpse into the advanced world. *eyeball emoji*

Footwork, point and flex, and the hundreds are done together, no pause, in the advanced level mat! And yes, it’s as challenging as it sounds. Today’s class will chunk exercises together to challenge stamina and build strength. It’s time to get out of our Pilates comfort zone.

Wednesday, September 21 @ 8AM w/ Destinie
GRAB BAG! Last week we addressed tight hip flexors and the low back. You bet the two are related. We explored that relationship together and geez, it was fun and sweaty!

Friday, September 23 @ 12PM w/ Nicole
There are six key principles in Pilates: Centering (deep core), Concentration, Control, Precision, Breath and Flow. Today we’ll start with a breath exercise to set the rhythm to flow through a beginner mat series. We’ll use transitions to minimize movement and maximize flow. Our exercise might be “beginner,” but you’ll see, it’s all relative.
