If you’ve struggled with chronic low back pain, a visit to your doctors or a quick google search will most likely result in telling you to “strengthen your core.” But what exactly is the core (it’s way more than just your “abs”) and how does a strong core help mitigate or prevent pain?

This week’s themes help develop your understanding of the core and why we strive to move from our “center,” aka core, in all Pilates exercises.

Visits to doctors resulted in them telling me to “strengthen my core.” One wise doctor pointed me in the direction of Pilates, so here I am into my fifth year of being low-back pain free.
